Impressive Negative Splits and Steady Climb Zach Cardenas demonstrated consistent improvement throughout the 2025 Phoenix Marathon Half Marathon, showcasing a deliberate pace strategy. Starting with a 10:40 min/mile in the first mile, Zach gained momentum, significantly improving to an 8:36 min/mile by mile 3. Notably, his race featured impressive negative splits for the initial stages, resulting in a remarkable climb in rankings. By the 5th mile, Zach ranked 850th overall, moving up to 793rd by the finish line. While Zach's steady pace was maintained throughout with an average of 9:11 min/mile, slight deceleration was observed in the 11th mile splitting at 10:27. Excellent recovery followed in the subsequent mile, finishing with a total time of 2:00:24. Among 2723 participants, Zach secured the 62nd position in his division.
