Strong Steady Performance with a Swift Finish Miriam Porres displayed a consistent and steady rhythm throughout the 2025 Phoenix Marathon 10K event. Starting with a pace of 9:47 min/mile, she progressively increased her speed, with her second mile at 9:06 min/mile. Notably, Miriam maintained her position in her division, never dropping below 7th place throughout the race. Her most impressive acceleration was seen in the last segment, finishing the 6th mile with a notable split time of 8:29 min/mile. Overall, Miriam completed the race with a final time of 57:56, averaging a pace of 9:20 min/mile. Her consistently improving split times contributed to advancing her overall position from 346th to 309th among the 1840 competitors. As a member of BFT South Tempe, her effort not only showcased her endurance but also her capacity to maintain and eventually increase speed after mid-race. Exploring strategies to sustain her end-race pace earlier could enhance future performances.
