Steady Start and Strong Finish despite Mid-Race Slower Segments Felipe Almaraz demonstrated a strong and steady start in the 2025 Phoenix Marathon Half Marathon event, maintaining sub-12-minute mile paces through the first five miles. His initial mile split clocked a solid 11:34, progressing to a swift 11:17 by mile 5. Notably, Felipe improved his position during these early stages, rising from 1812th to 1748th overall, and made notable gains in his division, moving from 161st to 157th place in the M30-34 category. Miles 6 and 7 presented challenges, where split paces slowed to 14:46 and 14:07, respectively. Despite these slower segments, Felipe finished strong, clocking a final mile pace of 13:41. He completed the half marathon with a time of 2:51:34, securing a 176th place in his division and 1017th among male participants. For future races, focusing on managing pace through the middle segments could help translate early race momentum into an even faster finish.
