Consistent Pacing Elevates Performance Lucy Melzer demonstrated commendable pacing at the 2025 Phoenix Marathon, completing the half marathon with an overall time of 1:37:18 and an average pace of 7:25 min/mile. Particularly noteworthy was her performance in the F19-24 division, where she secured 4th place. Lucy maintained a steady improvement in her pace, with her fastest mile clocked at 6:56 during the tenth mile. Her strong finish is reflected in her progress, climbing from 218th to 151st place overall throughout the race. In terms of splits, Lucy displayed strategic pacing, with her splits ranging between 6:56 and 8:01 min/mile. After initially pacing at 7:48 min/mile in the first mile, she hit her stride, notably accelerating in the final miles. Encouragingly, her splits in miles eight through thirteen were consistently sub-7:10, contributing to her improved placement. Focusing on maintaining this late-race intensity could further enhance her future performances.
