Consistent Start, Slowing Finish Hayden Witmer of Chandler, AZ, completed the 2025 Phoenix Marathon Half Marathon in an elapsed time of 2:32:54, achieving an average pace of 11:40 min/mile. Starting strong, Hayden maintained a steady pace initially with a significant jump in placement between mile 1 (959th) and mile 2 (898th overall). Good control was evident with split times around the 9:30 min/mile mark initially. Performance consistency up to mile 4 was a highlight, with a slight slowdown evident thereafter. From mile 5 onwards, gradual slowing occurred, with a noticeable increase in split times, particularly in the latter stages where splits extended to over 14 minutes per mile. Hayden finished 917th among males and 96th in the M19-24 division. Focusing on maintaining a steady pace in the latter half could yield improvements. Participating with the team "Cirque de Sore Legs," there is potential to harness supportive team dynamics for enhanced performance in future races.
