Consistent Middle of the Pack Performance with Speed Fluctuations Kourtney Butler of the Badlands Bandits represented Pinedale, AZ, at the 2025 Phoenix Marathon in the Half Marathon event. She completed the 13.1-mile distance in 2:59:39, with an average pace of 13:42 min/mile. The split times demonstrated varied speeds, with the fastest mile at a 11:24 min/mile for the 9th mile and the slowest at 21:06 min/mile during the 11th mile. Her overall placement was 2146 out of 2723 participants, while she was the 1092nd female finisher and ranked 133rd in the F40-44 division. Analyzing her pacing strategy, Kourtney demonstrated strong potential in shorter mile splits, notably under 12-minute miles in both the 5th and 9th segments. However, mile 10 and 11 revealed an opportunity to maintain consistent pacing throughout. The oscillations suggest room for strategic pacing enhancements to support long-distance endurance and potentially improve rankings. Maintaining consistent pacing, especially towards the later stages of the race, could be beneficial.
