Steady Start with Opportunity in Later Splits Henry Wu-Wong demonstrated an initially steady pace at the 2025 Phoenix Marathon, finishing his half marathon in a time of 2:42:08 with an overall pace of 12:22 min/mile. He maintained competitive ranking within the Mens 35-39 division, starting strong with splits that hovered around the 10-minute mile mark for the first five miles. Particularly notable was his split between miles 2 and 3 with an accelerated pace of 9:53 min/mile, briefly advancing from 1239 to 1138 overall. An evaluation of his performance reveals a slowdown in the latter half, starting at the 6th mile with an increase to an 11:26 min/mile pace. This trend continued, culminating in a 14:48 min/mile in his final mile. Encouragingly, despite the increase in elapsed pace, there was a marked improvement in division rank for his 6th mile, where he reached his peak division placement at 49th. Consider focusing on endurance to maintain earlier speeds throughout future races.
