Steady Pacing to Finish Fast Katie Shapiro from Mesa, AZ, delivered a consistent performance in the 2025 Phoenix Marathon Half Marathon. She maintained a controlled pace throughout the early segments, clocking an initial pace of 9:39 min/mile and keeping a similar pace until mile 3. Despite a slight slowdown between miles 4 and 6, her average pace remained stable, demonstrating disciplined energy management. At mile 6, Katie impressively moved up from 1021st to 595th overall, despite a slower split time of 13:22. In the latter parts of the race, Katie regained her pace, notably surging between miles 9 and 10 with a split of 9:23 min/mile. In her finishing mile, she significantly improved her division standing, placing 24th in her category.
