Steady Start with Opportunities at the Finish Robert Collins participated in the 2025 Phoenix Marathon half marathon, representing his team, Legs Miserables. His performance began consistently, completing the first mile in 12:11 min/mile, which placed him 174th in his M30-34 division. Notably, his pacing varied throughout the course, with the first six miles all under a 13:00 min/mile pace, highlighting a strong start. His 6th-mile split was the fastest at 11:33 min/mile, demonstrating potential for maintaining a vigorous tempo. However, miles eight and nine increased to pace times of 14:00 and 13:09 min/mile, respectively. As the race progressed, there was a decline in pacing with the 12th mile pacing at 18:01 min/mile. The overall elapsed time was 3:00:31 with an average pace of 13:46 min/mile, indicating endurance challenges in the latter stages. A more consistent pace strategy in the later miles could enhance overall performance. Encouragingly, the final mile saw an impressive gain in placement, finishing 53rd in his age division for the split. Prioritizing endurance training could help sustain an even-paced effort to finish strong.
