Consistent Early Splits with Endurance Opportunities Desirae Curiel participated in the 2025 Phoenix Marathon, achieving a final time of 2:49:26 for the half marathon, representing the "Do The Work" team. In the first half, she maintained an impressive consistency, starting with a 11:35 min/mile pace at mile 1. By mile 5, her average pace slightly increased to 12:02 min/mile, but her place improved, highlighting effective pacing strategies early in her race. Notably, her Elapsed Pace at mile 3 was 11:18 min/mile, showing her capacity for faster segments. Between miles 6 and 13, Desirae maintained close to her long-run pace but gradually lost about 70 overall places in the latter half. There was an observable pace drop with a 17:06 min/mile split at mile 11, indicating an area for potential endurance enhancement. However, her determination was evident, finishing strong with a total pace of 12:56 min/mile. Improving endurance later in races could enhance Desirae's overall performance in future events.
