Steady Pace with Early Consistency Maria Nucci from Chandler, AZ, showcased consistent pacing throughout the first half of her race while representing the East Valley Runners in the 2025 Phoenix Marathon Half Marathon. Her initial mile split was a solid 8:34 min/mile, contributing to her stable early performance. Up until mile 4, she maintained an admirable pace fluctuating slightly from 8:34 to 8:38 min/mile. The fastest split was during mile 4 with 8:10 min/mile, positively impacting her overall position as she managed to gain back several spots. As the race progressed past mile 5, her pace began to decline slightly, and she encountered a significant drop during mile 10 with a split pace of 9:18 min/mile and then peaking at 10:25 min/mile on mile 11. Ultimately, Maria finished with a time of 1:58:07, maintaining a 9:01 min/mile average pace. Continued focus on endurance could help in maintaining the initial pace throughout future races.
